Turn CheckPoint ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. We are not affiliated with Turnitin LLC.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you register, we collect your name and email address. We store a hashed (encrypted) version of your password — we never store plain-text passwords.

Document Processing: When you upload a document for scanning, the document is temporarily stored only for the duration of processing (typically seconds to minutes). The document content is permanently deleted after your report is generated. We retain only the report metadata (scores, filename, submission ID) linked to your account.

Payment Information: Payments are processed securely by Paystack. We store transaction references and amounts but never receive or store your card details.

Usage Data: We collect anonymised usage data including pages visited, features used, and general browser/device information to improve our service.

• To provide the scanning and report generation service
• To process payments and manage your token balance
• To send transactional emails (receipts, password resets, report notifications)
• To improve our platform and fix bugs
• To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
• To comply with legal obligations

3. Document Privacy — Critical

Your documents are not stored long-term. The lifecycle of your uploaded document:

• Upload: Stored temporarily in secure encrypted cloud storage
• Admin processing: Our team downloads and scans the document
• Report delivery: Document is deleted after report upload is confirmed
• What persists: Only report scores, filename, and submission ID remain in your account

We do not use your documents to train AI models, share them with third parties, or retain them for any purpose beyond service delivery.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We share data only with:

• Supabase (database and file storage) — subject to their privacy policy
• Paystack (payment processing) — subject to their privacy policy
• Resend (transactional email) — subject to their privacy policy
• Legal authorities — only when required by law

• Encrypted storage via Supabase with Row Level Security
• Bcrypt password hashing (never plain-text)
