Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Turn CheckPoint ("the Service", "we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access the Service.

2. Description of Service

Turn CheckPoint provides:

• AI content detection scanning for uploaded documents
• Plagiarism similarity checking against publicly available sources
• Downloadable PDF reports showing AI scores and similarity percentages
• Professional document humanization and academic rewriting services

Important: Turn CheckPoint is a preparation and self-assessment tool. Our results may differ from those produced by your institution's official tools (including Turnitin). We make no guarantee that a document scoring well on our platform will receive the same result from any other platform or institution.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use this Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm you have parental or guardian consent.

4. User Accounts

You must provide accurate, complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the security of your password
• All activity occurring under your account
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorised access

We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these terms, are inactive for extended periods, or are used fraudulently.

5. Tokens and Payments

Turn CheckPoint operates on a token-based system. Tokens are purchased one-time and never expire. Key payment terms:

• All prices are displayed in USD and processed securely via Paystack
• Tokens are non-refundable once a scan has been initiated
• We reserve the right to change token pricing with 30 days' notice
• In the event of technical failure preventing scan completion, tokens will be restored

6. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to use Turn CheckPoint to:

• Submit work for academic credit that is not your own without proper attribution
• Attempt to circumvent, hack, or reverse-engineer our systems
• Upload documents containing illegal content, malware, or harmful code
• Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit scan results without written permission
• Create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits
• Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations

Academic Integrity Note: While we provide document checking tools, we do not condone academic dishonesty. Our humanization service is intended for legitimate language improvement, not to facilitate plagiarism or academic fraud. Users are solely responsible for how they use our results.

7. Intellectual Property

You retain full ownership of all documents you upload. By uploading a document, you grant Turn CheckPoint a temporary, limited licence to process the document solely for the purpose of generating your report. We do not claim any rights to your content.

All Turn CheckPoint branding, software, and report templates are owned by Turn CheckPoint and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

8. Privacy and Data

Your uploaded documents are processed and permanently deleted immediately after your report is generated. We do not store document content on our servers beyond what is strictly necessary for processing. Please read our Privacy Policy for complete details.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that:

• Scan results will be identical to those from other platforms including Turnitin
• The Service will be error-free or uninterrupted
• AI detection scores reflect the actual position any institution may take regarding your document

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Turn CheckPoint shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to academic consequences resulting from reliance on our scan results.

11. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services including Supabase (data storage), Paystack (payments), and Resend (email). Use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third parties.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account at our sole discretion, without notice, for conduct that we determine violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. Upon termination, your right to use the Service immediately ceases. Unused tokens may be refunded at our discretion.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation before any other proceeding.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or a prominent notice on the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
